ABOUT ME

Born and raised without a musical background, ChillCheney found his calling at the age of 14. The transformative lyrics of 2Pac's "Changes" ignited a passion for rap that has since defined his artistic trajectory. ChillCheney's music, characterised by its emotional depth and dark undertones, pays homage to eminent artists such as Eminem, NF, Gnash, 6lack, Phora, Billie Eilish, and Lil Wayne.

His performance record is an eclectic mix of events and venues, including, COOEE festival (2019), Yabun Festival (2023), NAIDOC in The City festival at Hyde Park (2023) and Marrickville music festival (2023). He hosted his own show at the Metro Theatre, Sydney, shared the stage with Nitrous Battles at the Melbourne Pavilion, and warmed the crowd for Drapht during his tour (2022). His notable performances also include supporting Tech N9ne at his Sydney show (2022) and livening up various university events from orientation weeks to year-end social gatherings.

ChillCheney shares, "Any free time I'd get, I'd write, record, sing, and work on skills. I would try and make the most of that time by pushing myself as far as I could. There are times when I get stressed, especially when juggling everything. But music has shown me how to manage my time and, without music, I would feel lost. I'm not an open person, but through music I've found a way where I can truly express my feelings." With a life deeply entwined with his art.

VICTOR EP PRESS RELEASE

Over the past 18 months, I've been on a creative journey, and this 7 track EP is the result—a reflection of my self-discovery and resilience. The music and lyrics tell a story that covers a range of emotions, from feeling empowered to finding inspiration and facing moments of sadness. For me, music isn't just a skill; it's a lifeline that helps me navigate life's challenges, boosts my energy for live performances, and sparks creativity when I'm feeling burnt out.

During the careful process of making this EP, I came up with many songs, each with its own special meaning. The ones that made it to the final collection represent chapters in my personal story. I named the EP 'Victor' because it captures the essence of overcoming challenges and always striving to improve.

In honouring my dad's wise words—"You can do anything you set your mind to do"—I took on multiple roles in creating this EP, including producer, lyricist, rapper, and mixer for all the tracks. This deep involvement signifies my dedication to the message of the EP. I hope that 'Victor' becomes more than just a set of songs but a companion for others, connecting with their struggles, triumphs, and the transformative journey of life.

Cheney's music has been praised for its authenticity and originality. He blends elements of hip hop, R&B, and pop to create a sound that is both fresh and familiar. His live shows are known for their high energy and crowd engagement.

Cheney is a rising star to watch in the Australian music scene. With his unique sound and inspiring message, he is sure to make a big impact in the years to come.
